Cord Stick^® Multiple Draw System is a needle-containing device and requires appropriate care to avoid needle stick injury and subsequent transmission of blood borne diseases. Although the device has a built-in sharps protection safety feature, no needle-containing device offers absolute protection. If the device fails to operate as designed, it must be treated as an unprotected sharp and disposed of accordingly. Failure to observe this precaution may result in needle stick injury and exposure to disease. This device has not been evaluated for use in pre-term deliveries less that 34 weeks gestation. This device is not for use for umbilical cord blood banking or for phlebotomy uses.

Please advise your staff that during tray removal:

When you remove the tray from the barrel, be sure to hold the Cord Stick® barrel by the sides, behind the finger wings.

Do not hold the barrel along the top and bottom across the living hinge and barrel latches. Holding the barrel along the hinge axis, may force the manifold stop walls into the specimen tube caps preventing tray removal. This same narrow axis barrel compression during tray removal may also force the manifold retention latches outward, reducing their ability to capture the needle manifold.
