Cord Stick® Benefits

Cord Stick® Multiple Draw System is intended for obtaining two samples of venous umbilical cord blood after delivery of a newborn infant and aids in the prevention of needle stick injury. Cord Stick® has been shown to be a safe, efficient device for routine cord blood collection.
  • It reduces the number of personnel involved in cord blood collection to one.
  • It has only one needle related event.
  • By protecting the specimen tubes in the barrel, it reduces the chance of external specimen tube contamination.
  • By placing the blood directly into the specimen tubes, inappropriate clotting of the specimen is avoided.
  • Umbilical arterial blood is preserved, should a cord pH be necessary.
  • By placing the task in the providers hands, nursing staff are free to give their full attention to the new mother and infant.
  • In simulated trials, it has been shown to be thirty percent faster than other methods of cord blood collection.
  • In actual clinical trials, over ninety-eight percent of physicians and midwives responded that they would preferentially use Cord Stick®.
  • Recent legislation has mandated use of safer devices in many states. By using Cord Stick®, hospitals will comply with OSHA regulations.
