Barrel Latch

The Cord Stick® barrel latches were initially modeled after the latches on cable ties. Cable ties are used to secure cables in cars and boats, to attach children's toys to their packaging and are those "instant on" handcuffs. The required latch for the Cord Stick® was one that would close securely once and only once. The latch would not open again. The final design is a modification of that concept. Below are the latch components as seen in cross section.

The male portion of the latch is designed so that once engaged, it
can only get tighter. It will not loosen
in transit or use.
The female portion of the latch is protected so that all, but the most determined, efforts will be abandoned before the latch will be defeated and reopen.
