When the Cord Stick® needle enters the umbilical vein, quickly press the thumb ring forward. Blood will flow from the vein into the Vacutainer® Plus tubes. In 5 to 6 seconds the tubes will be over half filled. Do not fill completely. Carefully remove Cord Stick® needle from cord.
