Components

The Cord Stick^® Multiple Draw System has ten parts: 2 Vacutainer® Plus sample tubes, two 21 gauge sample needles, one 18 gauge drawing needle with cover, a needle manifold and manifold plug, a plunger tray, and a hinged, locking barrel. Here is a detailed diagram of its components:

Tray: The tray holds two Vacutainer® Plus sample tubes and also works like a plunger.
Manifold: The needle manifold has three needles and allows the flow of blood from the umbilical vein into the two Vacutainer Plus sample tubes simultaneously. The manifold plug seals the open end of the central manifold channel.
Barrel: The barrel of the Cord Stick^® Multiple Draw System holds the tray and the manifold. It isolates and locks the manifold needles to reduce injury.
